One of the greatest honors of my career was covering the 2026 James Beard Restaurant & Chef Awards as media.
During the virtual press conference, I had the opportunity to interview two award winners— Chef Susan Bae of Moon Rabbit in DC, winner of Outstanding Pastry, Chef or Baker and Chicago's own Chef Jacob Potashnick of Feld Restaurant, winner of Best Chef: Great Lakes. Their reflections on representation, community, and hospitality were a reminder that the stories behind the food are just as impactful as what’s on the plate.
